Zumo is a new variety coming from Segal Ranch in the lower Yakima Valley town of Grandview, WA. In Mexico Zumo means "The Zest of Limes and Lemons". Zumo can be described as having a whole lot of Citrus! More descriptively it would be a mix of Lime and Lemon Zest with a touch of Orange! Zumo is a great variety to accentuate other hops with citrus components or adding it to a current recipe that calls for a touch more of Citrus or Lime notes.
Zumo works really well by itself in Mexican Lagers and works well as a supporting hop in different IPA and Pale Ale styles.

About the Grower
John and his family are fellow New Yorkers with Johns grandfather George starting their first farm in Malone, New York in 1941. Shortly after the family started another farm in the Yakima Valley of Washington. John's father, John Sr took over the family farming operations in 1950 and later on helped Chuck Zimmerman to develop everyone's favorite American Hop Cascade in 1970! In 2007 John Segal Jr took over the family's farm with the goal of working more directly with craft breweries and more recently smaller merchants like ourselves.
